Sheboygan chiropractor, Dr. Daniel Grimm

"My first experience with chiropractic was out of sheer need."

I was a recent college graduate, living and working in Chicago, and extremely excited about my future. Why not? I was young, new to corporate America, and ready to take life by the horns. Then one morning at my desk, I leaned back in my chair and heard a “pop.” I immediately felt intense pain in my mid back and was suddenly unable to turn my head without pain shooting into my neck. I thought because I was young it would go away.  Let’s just say that was a long, hard week.  Luckily for me, my youngest brother Paul was a student at the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic just down the road.  I had a friend drive me the two hours to seek treatment.

During my initial visit, I realized that this was a different approach to health care.  No needles, not drugs, rather they analyzed my body.  They determined that a vertebrae in my back was misaligned and that the muscle spasms where attempting to stabilize the area.  I was treated at the Palmer clinic and a few days later found a Doctor of Chiropractic in Chicago to continue my care.

When I told other family members about what had happened they began to share their personal experiences with me.  My oldest brother Mark was a regular patient of chiropractic.  Still under care he says, “I feel so much better when I get adjusted regularly!”  My other brother Mike, who was the kid allergic to orange juice, chocolate, had hay fever, is now under care and no longer has to take allergy medicine or medication for his heartburn.  Further my mother told me that she and my father would see “old Doc Walters” a high school classmate of my father’s and our neighborhood chiropractor where I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, whenever they needed a tune up.

Ultimately, it was stories like this that motivated me to give up corporate America and change my career.  You see, I wanted to help people feel better and to help them gain and maintain a healthy life.  Chiropractic care is for ear infections, digestive issues, asthma, back and neck pain, colds, headaches, neurological problems, and many more conditions you and your family may face. Chiropractic is also for more energy, a strong immune system, a better sports performance, feeling more alive, and a better resistance to disease to help ensure a drug-free life.

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and completed my undergraduate studies at Florida State University.  There I was on the Dean’s list, a member of the Golden Key Honor Society, Omicron Delta Epsilon International Honor’s fraternity and was active in several clubs.  I later attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA and received a Doctor of Chiropractic degree.  I graduated Cum Laude and was an active member of the World Congress of Chiropractic Students (WCCS), a Palmer Campus Guide, and was appointed by fellow classmates to be a part of the Vogt Leadership Society.

While at Palmer, I trained in the Campus Health Care Clinic, as well as Palmer’s Out-Patient Clinics in both Iowa and Illinois. While working to complete this clinical internship, I was chosen to be a part of a humanitarian effort to the Amazon region of Brazil where I provided much needed healthcare to the native population. I completed my clinical rotation as an intern at Reeder Chiropractic in Lewiston, ME and owned my own clinic for two years in Portland, ME.

Palmer is where I also met my fantastic wife, Sarah. She and I live in Sheboygan with our two dogs, Sophia and Charlie, and enjoy camping, hiking and exploring the outdoors. We are overjoyed to be back in the Midwest and so close to our family and friends.

Can babies with colic be helped with chiropractic?
It's probably one of the times a parent feels the most helpless. But based on the research, chiropractic and colic relief appear to go hand in glove. With success rates in the mid-90% range, more and more Sheboygan parents are seeing a chiropractor. If you have a baby with colic learn how chiropractic may help.
Are aches and pains good or bad?
While aches or pains may be unpleasant, they're merely warning signs. As a Sheboygan chiropractor, I see this all the time. The pain is not the problem! It just means a limitation has been reached and something needs to change. That's when we get to work correcting the underlying cause.
